Michael Rouse

Michael joined Klarna as Chief Commercial Officer in June 2015. Klarna is a leading payments company founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 2005. As Chief Commercial Officer, Michael has direct responsibility for driving Revenue Growth across the portfolio of 18 markets Klarna operates within, distribution through direct & indirect channels to the 70k merchants that use their products as well as leading the Corporate Development Function to accelerate growth through M&A activity as well as new market openings.

Prior to joining Klarna, Michael had been at American Express for over 8 years, where he held executive positions within global sales, business development and marketing. He started as the Regional Head of Sales for the EMEA region and led the set-up and establishment of global channel development at American Express Corporate Services, before moving on to General Manager Global Accounts and Latin America within the same division. Most recently, Michael was head of the company’s flagship loyalty program, Membership Rewards as well as Card Benefits & Experiences, pioneering and developing new programs such as Pay with Points, the Centurion Lounge and launching partnerships with companies such as Amazon, UBER, AirBNB & Ticketmaster
